Daynapse is an iPhone app made by Daynapse LLC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what we collect when you use the app and this website, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. The short version: we use your data to run Daynapse for you. We don't sell it, we don't show ads, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.
What we collect
- Your email address, to sign you in with a 6 digit code. There are no passwords.
- What you log: food, workouts, to dos, mood, notes, steps, sleep, weight, the plans and targets you set, and the profile details you give for working out targets (such as age, height, sex and activity level).
- Apple Health data, only if you connect it. Daynapse reads the types you allow (such as steps, sleep, weight and workouts) and saves a daily copy of them with your days, so the app, Patterns and the assistant can use them. Some readings (active energy, resting heart rate, heart rate variability and body fat) are only read on your iPhone to show them and are never stored on our servers. When you log steps, sleep or weight by hand, Daynapse can also write it to Apple Health, if you allow that.
- Your chats with the assistant, and the short facts it remembers about you, which you can see and delete in Settings.
- Photos you choose to take or share, such as meal photos and screenshots. Barcodes and nutrition labels are read on your iPhone.
- Web pages you share to Daynapse. Our server opens the page you shared to read the food on it.
- Subscription status from Apple, such as whether you have Pro. Apple handles payment; we never see your card.
- Usage counts: how many AI messages and photos you used each day, for the daily limits.
- Technical logs: our servers keep short lived logs of requests (such as times, errors and IP addresses) to keep the service secure and working.
Your calendar is read on your iPhone only, if you turn on the Calendar card. It is not sent to our servers.
The website has no analytics, ads or tracking cookies, and neither does the app.
How we use it
- To run the app: sync your days between your iPhone and our servers, show your history, work out targets and Patterns.
- To answer you when you use the AI assistant (see below).
- To enforce plan limits, prevent abuse and keep the service secure.
- To email you sign in codes and messages about your account. We don't send marketing email.
We don't use your data, including Apple Health data, for advertising, and we never sell or rent it.
The AI assistant and OpenAI
The assistant is optional and asks for your permission the first time you use it. When AI is on and you ask something, log with the ask bar or take a photo, we send what is needed to answer to OpenAI, which runs the AI model for us. That can include your message, the photo, the days the question needs (which may include data from Apple Health), and your targets, goals, saved memories and Patterns. Chat shows which days were used.
OpenAI processes this for us under its API terms: it is not used to train OpenAI's models. Turning AI off in Settings stops all AI features and sends nothing to OpenAI.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers that run Daynapse for us, each limited to what they need:
- Amazon Web Services (in the United States): hosting, our database, photo storage and sign in emails.
- OpenAI: AI answers, only when AI is on.
- Apple: subscriptions, through the App Store.
- Cloudflare: hosting this website.
We may also disclose data if the law requires it, to protect the rights and safety of our users or others, or as part of a merger or sale of the company, in which case this policy keeps applying to your data.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while you have an account. If you delete something in the app, it is removed from our servers when your iPhone syncs. When you delete your account, we delete your days, chats, memories and photos. Database backups are kept for up to 7 days and then overwritten, and server logs are kept for a short time.
Your choices
- Export all your days from Settings, Export all days.
- Delete photos (Settings, Delete all photos keeps your logs), memories, chats or anything you logged.
- Delete your account from Settings, Delete account. This removes your data from our servers.
- Turn AI off in Settings at any time.
- Apple Health access can be changed in the iPhone Settings app under Health, Data Access.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or move your data, or to object to how it is used. You can do most of this in the app, or email us and we will help within 30 days.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and stored with access limited to running the service. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and will tell you if a breach affects it, as the law requires.
Children
Daynapse is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has given us data, email us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above, and tell you in the app or by email before a significant change takes effect.
